As a concerned dog-parent, I double and triple check that treats are NOT FROM CHINA. Thankfully, MilkBone dog snacks are safe to eat! According to MilkBone.com,
“All Milk-Bone® Dog Biscuits and dog treats are produced at our facilities here in the U.S. The majority of ingredients are sourced from the U.S. Like most pet companies, we source a limited amount of minor ingredients, such as important nutritional supplements or preservatives, from other countries due to limited availability in the U.S. We want to assure you that our strict U.S. quality and operations standards apply equally to all of our ingredients, regardless of the country of origin. …Our products are made with nutritious, quality ingredients that meet the applicable standards and specifications of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).”

The Eight Paw Review Concludes:

7 Paws!
These treats get 7 out of 8 paws!

If you buy the treats on Amazon, the bargain is unbelievable. Both of my dogs come running when they hear me open the resealable bag, and they never know if they are going to get a mini-sized milkbone, sweet potato or beef chew.

I recommend using these treats as training aids, as they are very small (hence the “trail mix” name) and easy to chew and swallow in one or two bites.

I would like to see that no preservatives are used at all and that more “trail mix” is included in each 9oz bag, but if you buy the 3-pack from Amazon, the 27oz should hold your pups over for quite a while. The product itself seems to have about a two year shelf life.

This is the first time I have seen doggie “trail mix” – so MilkBone gets an extra paw for originality. (If you’ve seen doggie “trail mix” elsewhere, tell me!)
